The standard Jaguar F-Type
R with its 550 horsepower supercharged V8 is one of the craziest cars
currently on sale. Speed and noise come in violent bursts and the whole
thing feels delightfully unhinged, even with all wheel drive. Jaguar's
D-Type inspired Project 7 amplifies the crazy even further, but somehow,
it's still a usable road car.
That's what EVO
founder and car collector extrodinare Harry Metcalfe found with his own
Project 7, painted in stunning British racing green with orange
accents. Even with less weight, stiffer suspension, more agressive
aerodynamics and more power, Project 7 can sort of work as a daily
driver.
Metcalfe
works as an advisor for Jaguar Land Rover's Special Vehcile Operations
(SVO), a group within the company tasked with making special editions of
its cars, like the Project 7. While presenting this video could be seen
as a conflict of interest, Metcalfe is transparent about his employer
and says he decided to purchase a Project 7 while still at EVO.
When we drove a Project 7
last year, we found that this limited run car is better than a regular
F-Type R Convertible in every way. A truly special thing.
